The next generation of family philanthropists are poised to influence the field of philanthropy and social change for decades to come. Resource Generation believes it is crucial to equip young people involved in their families' funds with the relationships, skills and vision to transform philanthropy for social change, helping build powerful organizations and movements.
This is why, for the fifth year, Resource Generation is proud to be hosting our retreat for young people who participate in their families’ philanthropy and are committed to progressive social change. It is more important than ever that young people involved in family philanthropy come together to build community, learn and leverage resources for social change.
Thank you to all the people who made the 2011 Creating Change Through Family Philanthropy Retreat a success! It was an amazing weekend. Download the 2011 Conference Report to find out more about it, who was there, what we learned and our plans for next year.
Are you a person of color involved in your family's philanthropy? If so, we want you! Join us at CCTFP for our first ever pre-retreat convening of all folks who identify as people of color.
Through skill-building workshops, action planning sessions and expert panel discussions participants will share experiences and address questions such as:
• What strategies can I use to bring new topics to the table and strengthen my voice in family decision-making?
• How does my relationship with my family impact the ways we give together?
• How can I look critically at questions of history, legacy and mission?
• How can I incorporate social change giving strategies into my family's philanthropy?
“The CCTFP retreat allowed me for the first time to have some frank discussions about sensitive topics with people in an open, honest manner.” - 2011 Retreat Participant

What will you gain from it?
“RG’s ability to create an open space to share ideas, reflect, connect and push our personal edges is so fantastic!” - 2011 Retreat Participant

The retreat is for young people who participate in–or want to participate in–their families’ philanthropy and care about social, economic and environmental justice. Whether you have years of experience in philanthropy or are just beginning, this conference will be a place to further develop your skills, learn new ones and connect with young people across the country. Participants are between the ages of 18 and 40.
The Creating Change Through Family Philanthropy retreat is a safe and confidential space for exploring giving and family issues. You will not be fundraised by other participants or presenters, and Resource Generation does not share its mailing list.
"At Creating Change Through Family Philanthropy, I found peers who will be a network of support for the next 30+ years...I found mentors, friends and "family" to support me, challenge me and travel together in this complex and exciting work." - 2011 Retreat Participant
